Primary school mathematics learning

The existence of mathematics can not be separated from human’s life, because of mathematics use in daily life is often done to solve the problem. But, This time the mathematics learning in school is out of the expectation. It is evidenced by an impression that mathematics is the must difficult subject for students. One of the problem is that an instant culture in doing every activities or in order to achieve something among our society. For example, a certain education practitioner will do any thing, through the national examination, to pass all of their student as so the school’s reputation will grow well. Therefore, there are some points to understand through the mathematics’ learning. Seen from three basic elements in education namely teacher, student, and society.

1. Teacher

In doing his/her job as educator, a teacher must have a comprehensive knowledge about mathematics. Because the education failure is sometimes coursed by misconception of teacher’s explanation along the process of teaching and learning. Otherwise, the teacher’s knowledge about teaching method should be broad as well so the subject meter can be delivered in varieties condition.

Therefore to be a professional, teacher must do following things namely:

a. Increasing his/her knowledge about subject matter.

b. Increasing his/her knowledge about various learning model.

c. Doing a conducive teaching learning process and doing betterment.

2. Students

Nowadays, students should not be treated as learning object but it must be attempted to be the learning subject, because each students have their our ability and talent, therefore those potential must be growth and developed in each students along the process of learning until the pass the elementary school, the basic ability that students must have after following the mathematics basic is communicative mathematics correctly, solving the problem, and developing a good attitude.

3. Society

Society in education process has a role as control toward the result of education; therefore society understanding about education must be developed as well so society can be a better control board. Because, education basically is a process developed to fulfill societies need. It means that the power produced along the education process will be able to be used by society thru any sector of life such as industry, economy, politics, and so on.

In mathematics learning, a society control especially parents is needed occurred in maximum ways because the control by parents or a support in finishing schools’ work will help from many stakeholder. Students will be calmer to face any problems related to teaching task and ease them to manage time in order to accomplish other activities.
